PCL Live expands fast in Scotland after £500k Leyard investment

Founded in Aberdeen two years ago, PCL Live spent £500,000 on Leyard video walls and has grown rapidly, with strong demand from the oil, gas and energy sector and the Chamber of Commerce

Since it opened its doors just two years ago, PCL Live, a professional AV company based in Aberdeen, Scotland, has invested more than £500,000 in Leyard video walls and expanded its warehouse to twice its original size to cope with growth in its business. PCL Live has also increased its fleet of vans, and seen a 200 percent increase in staffing levels, doubling its revenue in its second year and anticipating further growth.

Alex Sherman, business development and technical manager at PCL Live, said: “We now have over 200sqm of Leyard video wall, including CFO, NEV and MGP, plus the recent addition of the new LN Series, all of which has been very good and extremely versatile.”

He added: ‘Because the LN Series is both indoor and outdoor rated and the panels are so easily connected together, we can quickly create amazing structures. This has allowed us to expand what we do and gives us a lot more flexibility in what we can provide our clients. We can handle projects for large companies, especially in the oil, gas and energy sector.”

PCL Live has deployed the screens in a variety of settings, including watch parties in bars, fan zones, and other venues for this summer’s UEFA Euro championships.

An example from the oil and gas sector was the deployment of the Leyard MGP for stands at the biennial SPE Offshore Europe conference, in Aberdeen last year.

Sherman said: “We also do a lot of events with the Chamber of Commerce in Aberdeen such as the Ultimate Masterclass Festival, which feature celebrities and people in the marketing industry like Stephen Bartlett, Gary Neville and Davina McCall.”

He continued: “We supplied a comprehensive AV solution for them, including a 6m by 3m CFO video wall, flanked by two 2m by 4m CFO banners for the 5,000 attendees. We also partnered with Speak Easy for the Life Science Awards in Glasgow, providing a 12m x 4m LN video wall as the centrepiece of the event, which formed a stunning visual backdrop for the awards ceremony.”

Sherman said that, after establishing itself in north west Scotland, the company was moving onto national and international projects. PCL Live is also currently pitching for exclusive events throughout Scotland in which the team have had to “utilise out-of-the-box thinking in challenging locations”.
