White Light helped to bring Battersea Power Station’s iconic façade life with the technical infrastructure for a projection event to coincide with the arrival of the first residents to the building, following a £9 billion regeneration project. Woodroffe Bassett Design engaged the technical solutions specialist to assist with delivering a visual event, including a ‘welcome home’ message to the residents, which coincided with a special performance from members of the London Symphony Orchestra.
“Over three days onsite and despite some challenges with the inclement British summer weather, we installed 60 TourPro Aqua Beams in multiple positions around the chimneys and on the roof,” said Dominic Yates, WL’s key account manager. “The rig was controlled by a Grand MA2 and Luminex system. It was fantastic to see such a striking South London landmark illuminated in this way to mark a historical moment.”
Adam Bassett, founder/partner and principle designer at Woodroffe Bassett Design, added: “Working with Battersea Power Station and the team at Pixel Magic we sought to create a visual statement for the world’s media – executing this was an exercise in simplicity. The lighting sought to embellish and accentuate the iconic structure with an essence of celebration. Despite the simple design approach, installing temporary lighting on a functioning and complex construction site is never simple – a challenge the team at White Light met with ample determination and success!”
