The Smart Building Conference, taking place the day before ISE 2016 opens its doors on 8 February, at the RAI, Amsterdam, will see expert speakers tackling a wide range of Smart Home and Smart Building topics at the full day event. One of the key functions of SBC is to keep delegates up to date on technical standards, their development and implementation. This year’s Smart Building Conference will look specifically at KNX and Bluetooth.
KNX is a worldwide standard for home and building control and is the leading standard in Europe. Seventy KNX member companies worldwide offer more than 7,000 KNX certified product groups in their catalogues.
Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) (also called Bluetooth Smart or Version 4.0+ of the Bluetooth specification) is the power, and application-friendly version, of Bluetooth that was built for the Internet of Things (IoT). You can already find Bluetooth technology in billions of devices today, everything from phones to headsets to basketballs and socks
Here are three specific session highlights:
Diana Stickland, Business Development Director Design Innovation and President of the KNX Association, will explore,A Case Study in the Residential Backbone. Stickland will present a real-life example of a project (house) where there are a total of 12-13 lines on twisted pair connected together over IP, then integrated into other services, such as AV and door entry.
Martin Woolley, Technical Programme Manager, Bluetooth SIG, will coverFitting the Smart Home with Bluetooth. This session will allow delegates to learn about Bluetooth Low Energy which enables technology such as IoT; wearables; smart home and beacons; technical factors for end-to-end Bluetooth; internet connectivity and security; introducing mesh-based sensors.
Szymon Slipik, President and CTO, Silvair, will present,New Era of Data Driven Lighting Services. Bluetooth Smart opens a huge opportunity to build interoperable systems to control and manage both residential and commercial networks. It is the first step to the new era of data driven lighting services. This session will explore what makes the onboarding process part of the standard? Where is the secret sauce in Bluetooth Smart? Building a peer-to-peer mesh-based Bluetooth? Enabling lighting manufacturers to build cutting edge smart products and collect data from them.
The Smart Building Conference will offer content in two tracks (commercial and residential) as well as a number of presentations dedicated to both. The Commercial Track will be chaired by Content Chairman, Bob Snyder, (Editor in Chief of Channel Media Europe). The Residential Track will be chaired by CEDIA EMEA Chair, Kris Hogg (founder of Konnectiv Technology).
