Human skills meet digital tools at Education Technology Summit

Tomorrow's (Wednesday) summit will explore how best to apply digital tools to benefit learners, including advanced technologies such as augmented reality and wearables

The future of learning in a world increasingly dominated by algorithms and automation, and the need to apply human ingenuity, creativity and empathy to ensure investments in digital tools benefit learners will be discussed at tomorrow’s (Wednesday) ISE Education Technology Summit.

With creativity and associated skills routinely topping the list of attributes sought from employees and leaders, Emily Patterson, learning designer, Cambridge University Press & Assessment, will ask whether creativity can be taught and if team diversity improves creativity. She will also deliver some important takeaways to help in learning space design in this interactive session.

Emily Patterson is a speaker at the Education Technology Summit

In his keynote presentation, Fridolin Wild, professor in technology enhanced learning, Open University UK, will share how he and his team at the Performance Augmentation Lab are enriching the learning experience with real-world experiences, utilising augmented reality and wearable technologies.

In addition, Dominik Lukeš, lead business technologist, AI and ML Competency Centre – University of Oxford, will deliver a workshop guiding senior leaders in education through the essential steps of understanding the landscape of generative AI to enable better decision-making. During this interactive session, participants will explore the strategic implications of AI, address the current knowledge gaps, and develop continuous learning strategies to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving landscape.

The final panel of the day sees Professor Wild joined by Cristina Obae, squad leader, European Digital Education Hub; Thierry Koscielniak, executive advisor on digital strategy and educational innovation, Arts et Métiers Institute of Technology; and Angeliki Agorogianni, vice technical manager for services and quality assurance manager, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, for a wide-ranging debate about the future of learning.

Headline Sponsor for all summits and tracks is Cisco.
