Explore the latest in ed tech at ISE 2024

With a dedicated Technology Zone and a busy content programme, ISE 2024 is the show for anyone interested in deploying AV technology in educational settings; whether in schools, colleges or in the workplace.

AV technology is proven to increase student engagement and retention across all levels of study. While this could be as simple as projectors or interactive displays to enable students to access and engage with their learning materials, many institutions are going way beyond this. Virtual classrooms, online assessment systems and collaboration tools are enabling students to access learning materials wherever they may be, working independently or in small groups, while allowing institutions to reach a wider audience too.

Big data and artificial intelligence are helping educators to understand the impact of their teaching, identify those falling behind and shape lessons to enhance their appeal, while AR and VR devices continue to bring topics to life and offer new perspectives and gamified experiences. Looking further ahead and these devices will become more integrated into classrooms, with haptic devices also becoming a more common sight in learning spaces.

The Unified Communications and Education Technology Zone in Hall 2 features a host of exhibitors offering solutions for use in learning environments. There are suppliers of interactive flat panels, including Clevertouch, JCVISION, Prima technology, SMART Technologies and ViewSonic. You’ll also find presentation and collaboration tools from the likes of Airtame, DisplayNote, i-3 Technologies, Kindermann, NUITEQ, ScreenBeam and Xilica. In addition, this Zone also has suppliers of AV furniture and equipment housings, including Axeos, TOP-TEC and TeamMate; and conferencing and document cameras from Aver Information Europe and QOMO. It’s also worth checking out companies in the Discovery Zone in Congress Square, including IMAGO, Jousying Technology and TrackingMaster.

Away from the exhibition stands, there is plenty for ISE attendees who want to keep up with the latest education trends and developments.

This year’s Education Technology Summit, sponsored by X2O Media, is based around the idea that a one-size-fits-all approach is not always appropriate when designing educational experiences. Differences in physical characteristics, neurodiversity, culturally influenced perceptions and personal aspirations can all have an effect on how such experiences are received. The summit, titled ‘Educating Humans in a Digital World’, will explore how explore how pedagogy and technology are evolving together to meet these challenges.

Good practice in making learning experiences accessible and inclusive will be considered, as well as the implications of new and emerging technologies for teachers and support staff. The summit will also look to the future role of learning technology and media support services and consider how diversity in staff teams delivers better outcomes. The use of XR and AI in education will also be examined, from an ethical as well as a technological standpoint.

The Education Technology Summit takes place on Thursday 1 February from 10:30-14:30 in room CC5.1.

Shortly after the summit finishes, AVIXA Xchange LIVE (4G300) will host a free-to attend ‘Big Mindmap’ session at 15:00 on Thursday 1 February entitled ‘How Edtech can Enhance Social and Emotional Learning in the Classroom’. This will discuss how successful education is not just about developing cognitive abilities, but also emotional qualities such as curiosity, compassion, and courage. This will be followed at 16:30 by a Mixer and Meetup for education technology managers.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday 30 January at 14:45 on the ISE Partner Stage (room CC5.3), there will be a free session about GIGA; a joint project between UNICEF and the UN’s International Telecommunication Union that aims to get every school online by 2030.
