Following the success of his mesmerising Arborescent projection mapping experience on Casa Batlló on 1-2 February, and the presentation of Promenade on the Fira’s South Access Welcome Screen, digital artist Quayola takes to the stage tomorrow afternoon to deliver the ISE Creative Keynote.
Quayola’s work is a testament to the transformative power of AV technology in the creative arts. His keynote will explore the creative journey behind the Casa Batlló projection mapping, a project that seamlessly blends artistic vision with cutting-edge technology to create an immersive experience.
He explained: “My keynote presentation at ISE 2025 will explain the inspirations and methods which shaped Arborescent. For me, the creation process is as significant as the final piece, often serving as a documentation of my journey. Discussing the crucial relationship between the physical and digital worlds in my art, I will share insights from my unique expeditions to capture natural phenomena, which inspire my digital creations.”
He added: “By showcasing examples of my work, both digital and physical, I aim to illustrate the seamless transition between these realms. Additionally, I will touch on my explorations in sculptures, robotics and other artistic endeavours, emphasising the importance of technology in enhancing and expanding creative expression.”
Quayola is also presenting his artwork Promenade on the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via’s South Access Welcome Screen this evening, providing both the citizens of Barcelona and ISE visitors with another chance to witness his extraordinary creative talents in action.
He added: “Promenade is part of this ongoing exploration about observing nature through machines, and somehow trying to experience nature with the strange help of these different pair of eyes. So in different projects there’s different strategies of how I go and make these observations, and I think Promenade was quite a particular experiment, where there was a combination of drones and lidar scans. It’s also connected to Arborescent, and I think it was a nice counterpart to that work.”
Quayola’s Creative Keynote will take place at 15:30 tomorrow (Wednesday) in room CC4.1.
