ISE People: Lucy Martin, Design Director, John Cullen Lighting

Lucy Martin is Design Director at John Cullen Lighting. With over 30 years’ experience in lighting and product design, John Cullen Lighting is widely recognised as being at the forefront of lighting design and development in the United Kingdom. The design team at John Cullen are always mindful of being energy efficient whether it is in designing a lighting scheme or state-of-the-art new light fittings. At ISE 2013, Lucy will be presenting ‘The Importance of Control in Good Lighting Design’ at the inaugural Smart Building Conference on Monday 28 January.

“In the last few years, the range of control options for intelligent lighting systems has increased dramatically,” comments Lucy. “In my presentation I will examine the kinds of control system available, stressing the difference they can make to a lighting design, and highlighting their application in a selection of case studies.”

At John Cullen Lighting, Lucy heads up the award-winning design team working on projects throughout the world. She contributes to national press articles and also lectures regularly at design schools and interior events. Her first book on lighting entitled ‘The Lighting Bible’ was recently published by Apple.

A joint venture of ISE’s owners InfoComm International and CEDIA, the Smart Building Conference will look at how smart buildings are being designed, built and used, with expert case studies and presentations from some of the industry’s pre-eminent educators and consultants.

The Conference is designed to attract architects, design consultants, developers, electrical contractors and other key stakeholders in the construction sector, along with the integrator, distributor and manufacturer channels that represent ISE’s core market.
