Technical production specialist Blue Elephant has become the first UK AV supplier to invest in the latest generation of xVision Nomad 2.6 LED screen from Theatrixx Technologies.
Offering production services and custom solutions for events of all types, Blue Elephant has purchased over 100 sq m (320 panels – with another 100 to follow) of the new high-resolution Nomad screen package from Theatrixx, including processing from London-based manufacturer, Brompton Technology.
The xVision Nomad 2.6 indoor screen includes a die-cast aluminium panel design, with no-GOB (glue on board) module construction. Theatrixx’s proprietary TPEP (Titanium/Polymer Edge Protection) technology reduces the possibility of damage to edge and corner pixels.
Now, the second generation of Nomad provides brighter anti-glare black diodes from Multi-Color, offering colour gamut reproduction of ≥95% DCI-P3, with 100% blue accuracy at 1375 Nits, according to Theatrixx Technologies. New Brompton Tessera R2+ receiving cards provide the processing power.
Nomad’s ‘shaderless’ concept, using Theatrixx’s ‘liquid shader’ design, provides an alternative to the solid shaders traditionally used on LED screen modules. This approach eliminates the need for screws and brittle plastic, and provides a 170+ degree viewing angle, horizontally or vertically, with no colour shift. For this model, Theatrixx has also implemented non-proprietary industry standard IP-rated RJ45 and power connectors, allowing customers to utilise their existing cable inventory as needed.
In addition to new ‘lock and go’ top latches for faster installations, another feature is Nomad’s integrated rotary angle hub system, which enables screens to be curved at +/- 2.5- or 5-degree angles, with no additional parts.
William Kemp, managing director, Blue Elephant, said: “We arrived at the choice of Theatrixx LED with Brompton processing after careful consideration. The incredibly high refresh rate, consistent contrast thanks to the liquid shader design and exceptional colour replication delivers at every level. We know that our clients and their audiences will love the image quality as much as we do, and the integrated rotary angle hub system make it a versatile and creative LED product.”
He added: “Stocking a high-resolution LED panel as durable as this was also a significant factor in our decision. It means much less downtime due to the rigours of the road, better reliability on site and better value for our clients and partners. This investment demonstrates our commitment to providing best-in-class technology for all our endeavours.”
Blue Elephant is already a customer of Theatrixx, having previously invested in the Montreal-based manufacturer’s range of robust and reliable signal converters.
