A smart panel discussion about the new IPMX open standard for pro AV will take place today online at 2:00 PM Eastern Time US. The event has been organised by Future B2B, Installation‘s publisher, and will address how IPMX can fit into the products companies will specify, the systems they will design, and the use cases they will be specialising in.
The panel will be hosted by Mark J. Pescatore, content director, Systems Contractor News, and Scott Bekker, webinar moderator, Future B2B. They will be joined by Samuel Recine, vice-president of global strategic partnerships, Matrox Video, and Aaron Doughten, director of technology and marketing, PlexusAV.
The IPMX is designed to delivers a single platform upon which manufacturers can build products that are more standardised and interoperable. The benefits of interoperability include simplified infrastructure management, scalability, and cost savings. IPMX is based on the SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards and the related AMWA NMOS specifications prevalent within the broadcast industry, but adds specific capabilities for pro AV workflows.
The IPMX standard is designed to transport and control compressed and uncompressed video and audio, including 4Kp60 with 4:4:4 colour, over standard 1G networks, with very low latency. IPMX supports SD resolutions and is ready for 8K (or higher) resolutions. It is also flexible enough to support 10G, 25G, 40G, and 100G networks. Additional capabilities include HDMI support, digital copy protection with HDCP, NMOS discovery and registration, I/O management, enhanced audio channel mapping, and compressed media using the JPEG XS video coding system.
There are no licensing fees with IPMX – the complete set of standards is open and free to download and use. For more information, visit the IPMX website.
The panel will address the following questions:
- What makes IPMX different?
- What is the relationship between IPMX and SMPTE?
- Who is building it into products?
- What types of use cases and networks does it support?
- How does it play in an AVIT setting?
- What about HDCP?
- What about security?
- And more!
